Find a Personal Tutor

Tutor Wisconsin started as a simple search for a way to earn a little extra income while raising my two kids. My husband kept pointing out that I have a God-given gift for being bilingual in German, and after enough nudging, I finally dug into tutoring options online. To be honest, teaching never came naturally to me, so I hmmed and hawed over the idea for quite awhile. Once I started researching online tutoring services and local tutor options - I was shocked by what I found!

While searching for tutoring help for one of my children, I came across a popular tutoring platform called Varsity Tutors. Filling out the form to find a tutor was easy enough, but what followed was a string of impersonal calls from an AI agent. I couldn’t believe it! I expected to talk with a real person about tutoring support for my child - not an AI bot. They called several more times before I finally asked to be removed from the list altogether.

At the same time, I was working through the application process to become a tutor myself. Already feeling unsure after the “find a tutor” experience, I was equally surprised to find that the hiring process, you guessed it, was mostly handled by AI too! If you are anything like me, you still prefer talking to a REAL person. That’s really where Tutor Wisconsin came from — a small idea to create a more personal tutoring community right here in Wisconsin where local tutors and families can actually connect with each other.
